The DEPARTMENT OF MODERN LANGUAGES AND LITERATURES presents:
LA JAULA DE ORO (THE GOLDEN DREAM)
Directed by Mexican-Spanish filmmaker Diego Quemada-Díez, this feature is a piercing and poetic road movie that follows the fortunes of three Guatemalan teenagers on a dangerous journey through a treacherous Mexico, where police and gangsters prey on vulnerable travelers who dream of reaching the United States.
The Golden Dream has won awards at every festival screening, starting with Cannes 2013 where it played in Un Certain Regard and won A Certain Talent Prize for the ensemble and the Gillo Pontecorvo Award and François Chalais Award - Special Mention for the strength of the visual aspect, the violence of truth and its emotional intensity. It also won nine Ariel Awards, the Mexican equivalent to the Oscar.
This event is free and open only to Lehigh students/faculty/staff.
Light refreshments will be served after the film.
